Exactly as described, but the design of the vest makes it a little tough for my English Bulldog (who sinks, does not swim) to keep her mouth above the water. Her head naturally faces slightly downward, and the part of the vest under the chin isn't substantial. We use this vest as a back-up safety precaution when we're around water, which is great, but I definitely would not purposefully let her go into the water to romp with the vest on. Having her wear the vest would give me just enough time to rescue her without her sinking, which I guess is the point.
